About Me
Nice To Meet You!
I am Lilli, a creative gal with a storyteller’s heart.
I have been meaning to create a blog for a few years now. Originally I wanted two. One, as a personal blog (about my journey with the Lord and the things He has been teaching me). And the other, a mishmash of all my creative projects.
But, I have found that (if we let Him) God will be reflected in all we do, even in the things we assume He would have no interest in (like LEGO creations, or photography). So, in the end, I decided to combine both ideas into one blog.
Here it is! I sincerely hope you enjoy!
My Interests
I have many different hobbies and love to spend the majority of my day doing something creative.
One of those hobbies is photography (all the photos on this blog are mine unless otherwise noted) The main things I take photos of is nature and I will definitely be sharing some of my favorite nature pics in upcoming blog posts.
Another hobby of mine is sewing. I started to get into historical costuming about two years ago when I created a Civil War Era dress as school project, (fun fact: I am a homeschool graduate). After creating the dress, I experienced some burnout so I didn’t pick sewing back up until a year ago. Now, I have fallen in love with sewing and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
Besides doing historical pieces I have also created a few outfits out of thrifted curtains (one of those outfits is the overalls I am wearing in the photo at the top of this page).
Another thing I enjoy is building with LEGO. (A picture of one of my MOCs – My Own Creations – is shown at the bottom of this page.) I have been building for years now and have even shown builds at LEGO conventions.
My all time favorite hobby (and something I hope can be part of my future career) is storytelling. I honestly cannot keep myself from telling stories, every moment of every day.
Stories find their way into all of my projects whether it is a photo, or a lego build. I cannot say I am mad about this, for I think stories are beautiful and are a gift from the One above. He is the Master Storyteller after all.
One of the ways I tell stories is through writing. I have been working on a Historical Fantasy novel set in Victorian era London which I may or may not finish. I also have a few screenplays in the works. On this blog I hope to share poems, short stories and small pieces such as those.
My dream is to start my own film studio. I would love to create movies, specifically for children and families.
So many “family focused” movies today have hidden (or even blatant) cultural agendas. If they don’t have agendas, they are lacking deeper meaning or themes centered around truth. (I hope to elaborate on this in future blog posts).
I would love to create movies that go back to the truth, and give people hope by reminding them what and Who we live for.
About the Blog Name
Words mean a lot to me. I love words and their definitions.
Often, when I am going through a hard season the Lord will give me a word or phrase. Sometimes, those words are only for that specific season, but other times, those words become a declaration for the rest of my life. Radiant and Hope are the latter.
Hope
A few years ago I went through a season of deep hopelessness. I was so hopeless that I didn’t see the point of getting up each day.
But God never leaves us in the storms.
Through that time, He began to show me that He was my hope and that I could place my hope in Him, for He is faithful and trustworthy.
He became my purpose and my reason for living and He still is. I can honestly say that without Him, I have nothing and nothing I do matters.
But with Him? With Him, I can change the world.
Radiant
I first stumbled across the word Radiant when I was looking for a synonym for Light. I’m sure I’d seen it before then, but that was the first time it began to mean something to me.
You see, I love the word Light. As a child I was terrified of the dark, but the moment a light was turned on the fear that overwhelmed me would dissipate, as fast as the dark before light.
Darkness has no power when there is light.
In the same way, the enemy has no power when God is there, and God is always there, always with us. He is Emmanuel.
I also love the word because it is a constant reminder of our mission as Christians; we are called to show God’s light to the world. The metaphor that I think best illustrates this is the relationship between the moon and the sun. The sun is the light. All our light comes from that glowing orb and without it we cannot live. God is the sun.
We are the moon. The moon reflects the light from the sun and thus shines light upon the world. But, without the sun the moon has no light. In the same way, without the Son, we cannot shine light into this world.
But with Him? Well, the world better watch out.
“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.”
Psalm 34:4-5
